Australian Pipeline Trust (APA) has signed an agreement with CS Energy to increase the transportation volumes to CS Energy’s existing Swanbank E Power Station on the Roma – Brisbane Pipeline (RBP). Under this agreement the gas usage at the power station is anticipated to increase from its current level of 7 PJ p.a to in excess of 15 PJ p.a.
The agreement will commence immediately and as such will impact APA’s revenues for the current financial year. The contract has a life of 12.5 years.
The Swanbank E Power Station is the largest gas fired power station in Queensland supplying electricity into the National Electricity Market (NEM).
Chief Operating Officer, Mick McCormack commented: “This agreement reflects the strength of the relationship between CS Energy and APA, and provides benefits to both parties. APA benefits from increased revenue from a long-term contract with a secure counter-party, and CS Energy benefits from access to greater capacity on flexible terms, which will enhance their ability to compete in the
dynamic national electricity market. This agreement also demonstrates APA’s willingness to develop innovative pipeline solutions to meet the needs of our customers.”
APA has also entered into a Heads of Agreement with the owners of the Kogan North Gas Field (CS Energy Ltd (50%) and Arrow Energy NL (50%), for APA to own and operate the gas processing facilities. Final agreements are currently being negotiated and are anticipated to be completed in the next few weeks.
