The consortium of Australian Pipeline Trust (APA) and ANZ Infrastructure Services (ANZIS) has been named as the preferred bidder to build, own and operate the 940km Trans-Territory gas pipeline, subject to final project approval by the Board of Alcan.
The Spie Capag – Lucas joint venture is the consortium construction partner, with major experience in building pipelines in difficult environments, most recently the Seagas pipeline in southern Australia.
The consortium will be working closely with Alcan and the Northern Territory government to complete agreements to permit the project to proceed. Financial close is scheduled for June 2005, with construction to commence in 2006 and delivery of gas to Alcan scheduled for end 2007.
ABN Amro is advising the consortium.
